John Israel is a senior executive, with deep expertise leading cybersecurity and global IT organizations to enable business goals. His executive acumen combines diverse experiences of increasing scope and complexity spanning private and public sectors. He has successfully completed executive leadership assignments in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Notably, he is a recognized innovator and agent of change and efficiency while protecting data in a highly regulated environment with public sector experience protecting the Nation’s most sensitive information against advanced adversaries. John is adept at leading transformational change by managing ambiguity, portfolios, and programs to develop comprehensive, business-oriented strategies that guide the delivery of global IT services.

John has substantial experience leading global IT organizations and security programs, with a focus on balancing acceptable levels of risk with enabling business objectives. Most recently, John has led key aspects of the operationalization of Generative AI including cross functional Tiger Team leadership as well as the development and implementation of strategies tied to the security of, with and from Generative AI systems. John has proven equally proficient leading diverse business portfolios with the responsibility of managing first article engineering, global IT operations, enterprise IT risk, assessing the security posture of IT systems and services, and driving transformational change across enterprise optical networks, service networks, data center, productivity and collaboration computing, predictive analytics, and cybersecurity.

John currently works as the CISO of KPMG US & Americas, and worked as the Director of Cyber Enablement prior to this position. Before KPMG, John worked as the Regional Director of National Security at Ciena and a Managing Principal at Verizon. He also has 10+ years of experience as a Senior Executive of the United States government.
